The Process of NEET UG Counselling
NEET UG Counselling is a centralized process through which qualified candidates are allotted seats in undergraduate medical courses offered by government and private institutions across India. This counselling is organized by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), functioning on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Candidates who clear the NEET UG entrance exam must register on the official MCC website to participate in the counselling rounds. The process involves several key steps, including online registration, filling in preferences for colleges and courses, seat allotment based on merit and choices, document verification, and final admission.
Upon successful completion of all steps, candidates are granted admission to the college and course of their choice, subject to availability and eligibility. This structured and transparent process ensures that medical aspirants across the country get fair and merit-based access to MBBS and BDS programs.
NEET UG 2025 Counselling Process
NEET UG counselling begins with basic registration and choice filling/ Choice locking with the concerned counselling authorities which is followed by seat allotment and reporting to the allotted institute.
Registration
Participants who meet the NEET score and domicile eligibility criteria can register with MCC and state counselling authorities.
Choice Filling
Based on their marks and preferences, candidates can select multiple colleges and lock their choices accordingly.
Seat allotment
Counselling authorities will allocate seats based on merit and candidate preferences.
Reporting
Report to the allotted medical institute with the required documents and demand draft (DD) to complete the joining formalities.
